“You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.”
“You don't need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.”
Thich Nhat Hanh
Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked.
Some words of wisdom by Logotherapy founder Viktor Frankl. This approach to meaning is, in fact, revolutionary. His teachings offer specific avenues we should explore if we want to build a life of meaning. But fundamentally, Viktor Frankl invites us to look at life not as "something" we're going through passively but as "someone" we interact with daily.
How we respond to life's challenges, how we choose to spend our days, what attitudes we hold, etc. these are a few of the ways in which we respond to life's persistent question "What are you going to create out of me? What meaning are you going to give me?". It's through conscious responses to life that we grow into the person we want to be, we turn tragedy into victory, we build our legacy, and ultimately, create meaning out of the experience we call life.
Learning the laws of life so you live in flow
Learning the laws of life so you live in flow
Imagine you were an alien who just landed in the ocean. You know nothing about physics on Earth and nothing about navigating water. You do need oxygen though.
We experience something similar when we come into this world - we come into an existence there is no manual for.
We learn to breathe, walk, and talk unconsciously but that's just enough to survive in this world. Most never really understand the laws life operates on. Naturally, they often go against those laws and consequently experience life as a struggle.
What if you looked in deeply and learned how to swim with the flow of life instead of suffering through it?
